What Is A Haptic? How Do I Haptic?

File Haptics is an applied system developed by Neural Nets and Pretty Patterns in conjunction with QDot and later XToys, which continues to support this technology. It's a way of programming sensation directly into the files. Listeners connect a personal massager, and the audio experience becomes physical.The Deep Drop Party develops and showcases these experiments. During the final tracks of the evening, the hostesses' personal massagers are connected via an XToys bot. When they speak certain trigger phrases from the tracks, it activates the massagers in short bursts. Although it changes weekly, you can find a sample here.Here's where it gets interactive: audience members can also trigger the massagers by typing selected text phrases in chat. Each phrase sets off a burst lasting a second or so, creating an incentive to keep repeating. It looks chaotic and spammy in the Discord sidebar, but that's part of the fun. It's structured participation through playful repetition.To participate, go to the tease link, push the buttons until you connect your device, then copypaste the generated link into the party Discord sidebar. It's easy and intuitive - we promise. Please DO work out any technical issues before the show. The hostesses will be in no position to provide live tech support.Note: you'll need a computer or Android device. This won't work on iPhones.This is completely voluntary and consent-based. Neural Nets and Pretty Patterns does not connect personally. It's one dimension of the experience, and your participation (or non-participation) is entirely your choice. We want to make sure it shines on the most devoted voice actors. To be considered for one of the limited co-hosting slots, you must have starred as the primary voice on a Neural Nets and Pretty Patterns track.
